The Position

We are seeking a qualified Dentist to join our dedicated Dental team at Wimmera Health Care Group. This permanent full time position is available immediately and includes working Monday to Friday. This role involves joining a busy and progressive regional public health service and providing a broad range of general and emergency dental care. The successful applicant will gain valuable experience operating within a Victorian public dental program and enjoy working as our Senior Dentist and providing guidance to our Junior Dentist. The role will receive strong support to utilise and develop a full skillset whilst enjoying the provision of high quality facilities and the support from being part of an acute hospital. Salary for this position is negotiable.

The Region

The city of Horsham has a population of 19,500 and is 300 kms from Melbourne on the Western Highway and 400kms to Adelaide. It is a well serviced city with diverse education and businesses, positioned at the northern end of the Grampians National Park, nearby lakes and world famous rock-climbing areas as well as being a wine and food hub.

The Health Service

Wimmera Health Care Group has an average of 325 births per year, 12,500 admissions and 4,600 operations and 16,000 ED attendances annually. We have a modern theatre complex, including a day procedure unit, a five-bed intensive care unit, and acute and subacute wards all set within a picturesque garden setting.

Key Selection Criteria include:


  • Approved dental qualification and registration as a Dentist with AHPRA

  • Demonstrated 2+ years experience in general dentistry

  • Ionizing Radiation Apparatus Operating Licence in Victoria

  • An interest in working in a community setting. Empathy and understanding of health card holders, youth and people with a disability

  • Well-developed interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills

  • Medicare prescriber number


  • Membership of relevant Professional Association and participation in professional development programs

  • Knowledge of dental public health principles

  • Understanding of the Titanium dental software
